During the COVID-19 crisis, the county kill shelter in rural North Carolina closed.  Betty was the very last dog in the shelter and no one was willing to take her.  Thankfully, our rescue partner saved her moments before she was about to be put down.

Betty is a seven year old hound from a rural NC home where she was part of a breeding kennel. She is a quiet, submissive girl who would love a quieter home. Betty answers to her name, loves attention and appreciates having a routine.
She enjoys the company of other dogs. (Her experience with cats and children is unknown at this time.) Betty is house trained, enjoys her kennel and rides very well in the car.

Betty is spayed and heartworm negative. She has had vaccines (bordetella, rabies, DHPP), dewormer and flea & tick treatment given while she was at the shelter for several weeks.

Her foster Mom describes Betty as sweet and affectionate. She was somewhat timid in the new setting, but warmed up well to food, treats and head scratches!  Betty is startled by loud noises like thunder, and should be handled with care to ensure she doesn't bolt if she is surprised by a noise while outdoors.  A fenced in yard is highly encouraged as Betty seems to be a flight risk.  Betty is a very deserving dog that will be a loyal companion in the right home.

If you'd like to meet Betty, please fill out a dog adoption application at www.ehrdogs.org & be sure to ask for her by name, Betty!
